You are looking for a pre-mattel one. I have one and I love her!!! Good luck on your hunting. I will be more than happy to PM you when I find one! What do you think?

You probably want the Pre-Mattel Felicity. I got to compare my new one to my sister's old Lissie. Mine has the "extreme" green eyes, they are a much brighter/lighter green and while my doll has reddish hair, it's almost more of a coppery type red. Also, the older dolls all have wider faces and a bit different coloring. Their vinyl is different too, my PM Kirsten's is kind of shiny looking up next to my new Lissie. Either way, both versions of the doll are gorgeous! Hope this helps you in your search for a PM Felicity!

wow, after looking on ebay there are a lot of felicities but, how can I tell which is which? I am starting to be able to recognize the rounded face but if it's not labeled pre, then I am only guessing.

I had an orignal Lissie, she was mint as mint could be..sold her off ebay for $200 with no haggling..I thought I had her priced high enough it'd take awhile to sell her, nope..PM lissies in good condition bring MOOLAH! Kind of sad to see her go, but it convinced me to keep Samantha...

No, before going to ebay, I posted a for sale post on another board Im a memeber of..It worked out well, as the buyer didnt have to fight other people for her and I didnt have to pay ebay fees.

Mine had all her orignal clothing, plus her original box, the original pamplet and her hair care arm tag still. Her dress was tagged west germany 1986, body was tan-ish. she was older, I cant remember excatly when I got her, but it was back around when they introduced her FULL collection for the first time.

I saw one similar to her go for $200 on ebay(she was lacking the original hair ribbon though and didnt have the hair care tag or pamplet) so I thought the price was fair(DH thought I was nuts).

Buyer wanted a PM felcity in mint condition..

I sold alot of my my little ponies off ebay as well..mabey I could have gotten more on ebay, but the buyers didnt have to monitor the auction constantly, plus risk getting snipped and I dont pay the fees...

We got one of the very very last PM Lissies, ( I believe in the last five available nationwide) and one of the first Mattel's - out of their first batch; both ordered the same month. I think they used left over parts for a while. Mine have the same eyes and very different vinyl and hair. The dresses are night and day.

Our PM has gorgeous translucent coloring, and the M one has an opaque, almost greyish cast, and little paint. Still, the biggest difference is the gowns. M is a much different print - something I've never seen mentioned by anyone, and it is poorly made - the ruffle lies wrong, like they were just learning how to make it. The print is crude, like you'd expect a knockoff to be, but I got it straight from AG.

However! Since then Mattel dolls have steadily improved, IMO. In fact, I think all over the course of their history these dolls have evolved. My PM does not have bright red hair like the earliest ones, but she also does not have Mattel hair. I have also seen M dolls with P hair.

If you really want to tell the difference, I'd recommend going by the eyelashes, which really only works on the blonde and red haired ones. Mattel dolls have all black eyelashes - that is the most consistant thing I've found, whereas Felicity has reddish ones if she is PM. They are also softer - the only way you can tell on a Samantha, and even then it's not reliable - is to bursh your finger against her lashes or the feel of their hair.

When M first took over, the vinyl tended to be dense and opaque and to me the dolls lacked liveliness. But, I've seen that in some PM AG's too. Our Josefina and Molly, who are Mattel, are some of the prettiest AG dolls I've ever seen, and they are our most recent dolls. They also have hair that stays nicer than any of our older doll's. So, there is a tradeoff. Also, Molly, our most recent, is more flexible - not her joints; her vinyl squishes, and so does another recent Molly I know. This is in the last six months.

The PM vs M comparison is also is also tricky with acessories and clothing. You cannot tell at first glance what was designed or manufactured when based soley on attention to details. All through their history AG has had variations in quality and historic correctness. Mattel has done some of the best, but also some of the worst ( and definately quirkiest), interpretations of history.

I've come to the conclusion that there is some prejudice towards Pleasant based on fond memories, and there are some dealers who are taking advantage of distrust of Mattel, and there are some legitimate differences. Good luck sorting that all out!
